Five easy colouring activities for a rainy afternoon
Simple prompts to turn a colouring page into a story, a game or a shared adventure.
1. Invent a colourful character
Choose an animal or dinosaur page, then give the character a name and a favourite snack. Let your child decide what colours fit its personality.
2. Try a three-colour challenge
Pick three crayons together. See how many different ways you can use them. This is a playful invitation, not a rule: more colours are always welcome.
3. Tell a story as you colour
Ask where the character lives or what adventure comes next. Write down a sentence your child suggests, or simply enjoy the conversation.
4. Take turns
Colour a page together, each choosing a different part. Ask before changing someone else’s section and let everyone keep their own style.
5. Create a mini gallery
Invite your child to choose a favourite picture for the fridge or a folder. They can add a title and decide who they would like to show it to.
Keep it simple
You only need a page, a few colouring tools and a little space. Put a protective sheet underneath and use supplies suited to your child, with grown-up supervision where needed.
